Alberto Perez invented this original kind of aerobics by mistake. He left his home country, Colombia, in his quest of teaching people how to lose weight through aerobics. However, he forgot to bring the music that it is usually played in aerobics classes, which is why he used his tapes of music from Colombia instead. Therefore, he started the dance without even realizing. As you can imagine, all the moves that are characteristic to Zumba are natural because Alberto Perez didn’t have any routine to go with the music tapes that he had. Instead of counting the steps that you are making, doing the aerobics will allow you to simply feel the music. This is actually what makes the Zumba so enjoyable: the fact that you are going to lose yourself in the music. When you count the steps and you are trying to do them the best you can, you don’t feel as relaxed and going to aerobics seems to be just a thing that you have to do in order to keep fit, not something that you enjoy. Another advantage offered by the Zumba is the freedom that you have. You can dance any way that you want to, following a few general guidelines that the instructor in front of you gives you. You will be able to keep fit and lose a lot of weight as well without feeling like aerobics is a burden that you have to do.
